Former Chicago Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt and his wife, Janet, on Tuesday sold their two-bedroom, 1,786-square-foot condominium unit on the 16th floor of the Pinnacle building in the Near North neighborhood for $1.025 million.
Retired from coaching and now a college football studio analyst, Dave Wannstedt, 65, was the Bears head coach from 1993 until 1998. The Wannstedts’ most recent stint as Chicago-area homeowners began in 2012, when they paid $930,000 for the 16th-floor Pinnacle unit.
In June, the couple, who also have a home in Naples, Fla., listed the 16th-floor unit for $1.095 million. In August, they cut their asking price to $1.025 million and then in November, they reduced it further to $995,000.
However, they aren’t cutting ties with Chicago. Instead, they traded up in September, paying $1.39 million for a three-bedroom, 2,100-square-foot condo unit on the 23rd floor of the Pinnacle.
Now the couple have sold their 16th-floor unit. While the unit sold for above its asking price, the final sale price included a separate parking space.
Public records do not yet identify the buyer.
Mike Kravitz of Re/Max, who represented the buyer, confirmed the sale. Listing agent Chezi Rafaeli of Coldwell Banker declined to comment on the transaction.
